~Philosophy Statement~

Philosophy Statement:

One of my biggest goals in life right now is to become a teacher. Although, the biggest goal is to become a great 21st century teacher to all my students. I knew I wanted to become a teacher my senior year in high school. I took a class called Childs World Lab where I was able to help out in a kindergarten classroom for the whole year for two hours a day. The teacher I was with during this experience was amazing. She was caring yet strict, organized yet messy, and knew what she needed to teach and taught it in the most fun ways possible. She always said that I was much like her at that age and to hear that from her was truly a genuine compliment. If I loved how she did things so much and she thought I was like her than why not become a teacher just like her.
I believe that children should be able to go to school and feel safe, comfortable, and motivated to learn. That’s exactly what I intend to do with my classroom. The environment will be organized and full of fun activities to learn with. One of the main aspects of my classroom will be the technology available. Since technology is so huge right now in everyday life then how can it not be involved in the learning process? My students will develop skills that will not only get them through my class, but life outside of the classroom and years to come. The internet is one of the first things that students would learn in my class. The internet and researching with it is an endless source of information. I would also use a smartboard if available each day for the student’s morning work. This gets them active early in the day so that it gets the students ready for a day that continues to be active. Technology improves our teaching and what students can learn and this is exactly how I am going to reach that goal of becoming that great 21st century teacher.
