~Lesson Plans Integrating Technology~
#1
Lesson Plan Title/Topic: Telling time using hand made clocks
Found at:http://www.lessonplanspage.com/MathTellingTime.htm
The technologies that could be used in this lesson plan are clickers, a smartboard, and a timer.
Objectives of the technologies:
Timer- A timer could be used at the beginning of the lesson to show how long a minute or more is. The teacher can either have the students
lay their heads down for a minute until the timer goes off or as they are completing their activity the students can use timers to set the timer
on how long their partner has to complete their problem.
Smartboard- A program could be created on the smartboard so that the students could move the hands on the clock to the time given to them by
the teacher.
Clickers- After the students have completed the activity in the lesson they can test their knowledge in a short quiz using the clickers. The
problems given should be in the problem solving format like the lesson was.
Software and Hardware requirements:
* A timer or mulitple timers if each group is given one
* Smartboard and program to complete clock work
* Clickers and software the comes with it
Skills required:
Teacher- The teacher should be comfortable working with the smartboard and clickers software to make the activites for the students. The teacher
should also know how to be able to preform the activities in case a student needs help. He or she may also need to teach the students how to
use a timer.
Students- Students should know how to work a timer. Students should already know how to tell time to the half hour, quater hour, and five minute
intervals. They should also be taught how to use the clickers correctly.
Reflection on the technology:
The timer allows students to get a better idea of how long a certain unit of time is, such as a minute, five minutes, or even seven minutes.
By using the smartboard the students will be able to practice their newly learned skills on time in a fun interactive way. Also, when they have
to perform certain tasks in front of their peers they usually take it more seriously and concentrate more. The clickers would be fun for them
and a nice way for the teacher to see where the students are at academically on this topic. When they use the clickers they are not getting
help from their peers so it truly show how much they learned.

Lesson Plan Title: Maps of Mexico
Found at: http://www.lessonplanspage.com/SSMapsOfMexico45.htm
The technologies used in this lesson are Google Earth, World Wide Web, and Powerpoint.
Objectives of the technologies:
Google Earth- This lesson uses a map to show where Mexico is located which is great, but using Google Earth would be another way to show the
students where Mexico is.
World Wide Web- The students would use the internet to look up a variety of information on Mexico, such as geographic features and the culture
in this area.
Powerpoint- The students would create their own powerpoint about what they learned using the World Wide Web. They also would have
to be able to site what they use correctly in their powerpoint.
Software and Hardware requirements:
* The teacher would have to have access to Google Earth or at least a free trial for the lesson.
* The teacher and the students would have to have access to a computer lab or one-to-one lap tops with internet to complete the powerpoint
and research on Mexico.
* The powerpoint software would also have to be available.
Skills required:
* The Teacher- The teacher will have to be well educated on how to use Google Earth so that he/she display Mexico without any difficulty.
The teacher should prepare the students with what sites are good to research and which ones to stay away from. Also, a small lesson on how to
site the websites correctly would be helpful to the students.
* The Students- The students should know how to use the internet correctly and how to site the information they use. They should also be able
to use powerpoint.
Reflection on the technology:
Google Earth will give the students another visual of Mexico in a unique and fun way. Instead of seeing Mexico on a map where it looks flat;
Goole Earth will give a better representation. The students will use critcal thinking and copyright skills when searching the web and siting
their information in their powerpoint. The powerpoint is an exciting way for the students to show what they have learned. Powerpoint is used all
the time through school and life, so being able to use it and gain more skills with it will become even more helpful as they get older.
